My interest in trains started early, followed by my first model railway when I was 12. It was an N Gauge layout on a 5’x2′ board with a Class 43 HST book set, which I still have to this day. I also still have my original Class 08. Since then, I’ve built and operated various layouts over the years, each one teaching me something new.
Now, I finally have the space and time to build something on a larger scale.
My aim is to build a UK modern image in N Gauge and based on a real location. And this time, I’m building with exhibiting in mind. The layout is intended to be more than something to enjoy at home; the goal is to create a detailed, realistic and operational railway that could eventually make its way onto the exhibition circuit.
The planned layout will measure approximately 810 mm × 5,260 mm (2 ft 8 in × 17 ft 3 in), but this may change. I’ll updating my progress in the posts below.
